Happy 4th year on the milky way. Please don’t ask where the 3rd year anniversary post is, I was very preoccupied at the time. Probably drinking tea and kicking my feet and looking out the window in a deeply contemplative manner. Lalalala.

The 2nd year anniversary art can be viewed here, and the first year one can be viewed here. The latter I should upload elsewhere. If you’re reading this in the future and the second link doesn’t work, we can all have a good laugh.

I must sound pretty blasé faire because truthfully, I am. As I’ve said before, I have little interest in a project once I’ve finished it. The only thing I really care about is your enjoyment. So If you keep enjoying my work then I’ll be satisfied. If it provides you a little comfort, then I can look back with happiness.
I feel that I should say something of importance... In that case, why are people so fascinated with the story of the Galactic Railroad? I think it’s a story that really sticks with you once you’ve read it. It’s like an oil lamp when you’re walking through a dark tunnel. Suddenly, you see things you haven’t seen before, and you begin to understand that it was everywhere the whole time. Everyone’s love for the railroad turned it immortal. A story about death has been alive for nearly 100 years because of that love.
For me, the story sticks because of the spiritual element. It’s said the body gets a little lighter when you die and of course there are various scientific elements to explain this, but people will say that it’s because that’s the soul having left the body. The emptiness is evidence that someone was there.
The story occupies a particular space in the skull on the back of the tongue before any words can be said. Once it is spoken, it gains definition and in that it has a shape and the suddenly it’s completely unlike itself, so it’s better held back and tasted. Those are the words that define things in the universe we can’t completely understand. There must be a scientific explanation, but for a while it’s considered a miracle. The body gets lighter when it dies because the soul has gone away... That’s how we try to define it, with those ineffable words in the back of our throats.
...My game is a straightforward, clumsy thing, but I would like to continue pursuing the railroad and deliver to you words that cannot be said.
Watch your step, passenger, and see you on the other side.
