Cocoa futures have fallen sharply from last year’s peak and are on track for a record annual slump, helped by expectations for more ample supplies. Even with the raw ingredient cheaper, shoppers are unlikely to see meaningful price relief on bars, candies, or seasonal chocolates this holiday because retail pricing tends to adjust slowly after big swings in input costs. The upshot: the commodity market is delivering some welcome cost pressure relief for manufacturers, but the savings may take time to flow through to store shelves.
