August Updates for DietPi v9.18:
Key Enhancements:
- New Hardware – Added images for theNanoPi R3S and R3S LTS, both built around the Rockchip RK3566 SoC with dual Gigabit Ethernet. The LTS variant includes HDMI output, while the non-LTS version is configured for headless operation. Support also extends to the NanoPi R76S and NanoPi M5, featuring the newer RK3576 SoC.
- LazyLibrarian – An eBook and audiobook collection manager added to the software catalog, serving as a community-maintained replacement for the discontinued Readarr.
- DietPi-Dashboard – Completely reworked for better maintainability and security. TLS is enabled by default with auto-generated self-signed certificates. Backend and frontend run as separate services, using ports 5353 and 5252 respectively. The legacy dashboard remains available for manual fallback.
- Drive Manager / Partition Resize – Added compatibility with Xen virtual block devices following the
/dev/xvd[a-z][1-9]scheme. - DietPi-Config – The SPI bootloader flashing option has been generalized to support any U-Boot package exposing related functions and any detected SPI device node. The mechanism now handles both
mtd-utils/flashcpanddd-based methods.
Bug Fixes:
- FS Partition Resize (service) – Resolved a rare first-boot hang on systems with ext4 root filesystems lacking journals. The script now triggers a controlled reboot with forced fsck to finalize journal creation immediately.
- DietPi-AutoStart – Fixed a typo that prevented KMS/DRM from enabling on Raspberry Pi Trixie systems when LightDM-based autostart was selected.
- DietPi-LetsEncrypt – Removed the obsolete OCSP toggle following Let’s Encrypt’s OCSP service shutdown. Users should remove related
SSLStapling*directives from web-server configs. - GMediaRender – Corrected a packaging issue on Debian Trixie and Forky images where the upstream build was installed instead of DietPi’s maintained version.
