But then I found out the secret.
You don’t need a rich vocabulary, complex concepts, or perfect grammar.
Smart communication is not about how to orate but rather how to get your message across.
The main criterion is that the other person feels appreciated, and their opinion matters, and they should also feel comfortable.
Smart people assume that they are being understood, and these are the very things that constitute a high-quality speaker. Almost none of the time.
1. Pause Before Answering — It Shows Confidence
Usually, people hurry to reply as soon as the other person stops talking. It results from the anxiety of having to fill the silence and sounding not ready.
However, the people who usually sound the smartest go for the opposite: they take a pause.
