South Korea has lifted a ban on pork imports from Germany imposed after an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in the country some 10 months earlier, German officials said on Friday. A number of non-EU countries banned German meat and milk imports after an FMD outbreak was confirmed at a buffalo farm near Berlin in January, the country’s first in 35 years. In order to contain the outbreak, the German government issued a ban on animal transport and established a restricted zone around the affected farm.
