The Toronto Raptors have come alive after their slow start
The Raptors looked to be headed for disaster after getting off to a 1-4 start to begin the season.
There were a lot of expectations on Toronto coming into this season with an expensive payroll, so they needed to deliver results.
The Raptors’ defense was atrocious to begin the year, but since the slow start, it has greatly improved. They held the Hawks to under 100 points in this win.
Their offense has been thriving as the Raptors have the 7th best offensive rating in the league.
The Raptors are the only team in the NBA with three players averaging 20+ points per game this season with Scottie Barnes, Brandon Ingram and RJ Barrett.
The Toronto Raptors are perfect in NBA Cup group play
With their win over the Hawks, the Raptors have improved to 2-0 in the Emirates NBA Cup.
They sit atop East Group A with a +23 point differential. The winners of each group, along with one wild card team from each conference, advance to the knockout rounds.
The Raptors have never advanced to the knockout stage of the NBA Cup since its inception, so this would be a huge milestone for them.
Things are looking good for the Raptors as they have two more matchups coming up against the Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards, who are a combined 2-15 this season.
