As of 4:00 PM Kyiv time on November 8, there have been 116 combat engagements on the front. Half of these clashes occurred exclusively in the Pokrovsk direction, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian shelling
The General Staff reported that today, communities in the following settlements were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire:
- Huta-Studenetska and Senkivka in the Chernihiv region;
- Khliborob, Bachivsk, and Novovasylivka in the Sumy region.

Frontline situation
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian forces repelled ten Russian attacks, while one engagement is ongoing. Enemy aircraft carried out eight strikes, dropping 14 guided aerial bombs. In addition, the Russian army conducted 90 artillery attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including eight from multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, Ukrainian forces stopped nine Russian attacks near Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, Synelnykove, and Tykhe, as well as toward the settlements of Dvorichanske and Kolodiazne. Five clashes are ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled four of five enemy attacks toward Petropavlivka and Pishchane. Fighting continues.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army launched two attacks on Ukrainian positions near Derylove and toward Korovii Yar. The battles are ongoing.
In the Sloviansk direction, Russian forces attempted ten times to advance on Ukrainian positions near Yampil, Serebrianka, Dronivka, and Fedorivka. The Defense Forces stopped eight attacks, and two clashes continue.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled an enemy offensive near Zaliznianske.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the enemy tried eight times to breach Ukrainian defenses near Yablunivka, Shcherbynivka, and toward Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the start of the day, Russian forces have attempted 57 times to push Ukrainian troops from their positions near Volodymyrivka, Fedorivka, Nikanorivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Promin, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Zelene, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Kotliarivka, Horikhove, and Filiia. The Defense Forces are holding the line and have repelled 52 attacks.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped five Russian assaults. The enemy is trying to advance near Zelenyi Hai, Orestopil, Pryvillia, and Krasnohirske. Velykomykhailivka was hit by an airstrike.
In the Huliaipole direction, there were four clashes near Uspenivka and Novoupsenivske.
In the Orikhiv direction, there has been one Russian attack since morning. The enemy attempted to advance near Plavni, and Russian aircraft struck Orikhiv.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Russian units made one unsuccessful attempt at an offensive.
Yesterday, the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Airborne Assault Forces stated that Russian activity in Pokrovsk has decreased, but the enemy is trying to establish logistics through the southern outskirts of the city. The Russian army has repeatedly attempted to move equipment and personnel, but the Armed Forces successfully blocked these efforts.
The report added that the situation near Myrnohrad remains tense. After failed attempts to storm the city from the east, Russian forces, according to Ukrainian intelligence, may shift attack directions to find weak points in the defense.
