London is in full autumnal season as leaves of every colour transform its royal parks, while cascades of falling leaves have led to disruption on Tube lines.
So far in November, temperatures have remained unusually mild for this time of year, staying firmly in the double digits and the trend looks set to continue for another seven days, before the cold ushers in.
BBC Weather’s long range forecast predicts a substantial drop in temperatures on Monday, November 17, with peaks falling into the single digits for the first time this autumn.
That day will see mercury rising no higher than 9C, accompanied by gentle sunshine and drizzle. The following day (Tuesday) will see the outlook even colder at around 8C, with sunny intervals and light winds.

Temperatures will be around 13-14C tomorrow morning in London (Met Office)
In the meantime, residents living and working in the capital can expect another week of stable temperatures hovering in the double digits for the most part. The Met Office forecast for today (Sunday) shows a peak of 14C, with light rain in the evening and little to no chance of wind.
The outlook will worsen slightly tomorrow (Monday) with heavier rainfall and possible thunder and lightning in the late morning.
Monday’s wet spell will subside by the following day and temperatures will remain stable with peaks in the mid teens, climbing to highs of 16C on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with the chance of light rainfall.
Climes will begin to cool next weekend and will be accompanied by some drizzle, with temperatures going no higher than 13C next Saturday and Sunday.
Meteorologist Greg Dewhurst said: “The outlook for the week ahead, it generally stays unsettled. We’ll see showers and longer spells of rain, some brisk winds at times too, so it is worth staying up to date with the forecast as there could be some further disruption.”
“But temperatures (this week) are still above average, particularly England and Wales, with 14, 15 and 16 Celsius possible.”
