Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has told youths of Adamawa State in Qur’anic schools to embrace western education as well. He said it is the only way they can live balanced life and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Fintiri who spoke at the closing ceremony of the 40th Adamawa State Annual Qur’anic Recitation Competition held at Mahmud Ribadu Square, Yola, praised the participants for their dedication to the Holy Qur’an and the preservation of Islamic values but advised them to broaden their knowledge for maximum impact.

In his speech delivered on the ocassion by the Commissioner for Housing Development, Abdullahi Prambe, the governor advised the youths to deepen their devotion to Qur’anic education while embracing modern learning as a pathway to an enlightened society.

He threw the challenge against the background of northern youths generally receiving only Islamic education and finding themselves unfit for white collar or professional jobs.

Governor Fintiri, emphasizing that the state’s educational landscape now offers opportunities for young people to blend Qur’anic scholarship with Western education, said many institutions in the state integrate both Islamic and western educational systems effectively.

> “Our youths must seize this dual opportunity. Knowledge of the Qur’an enriches the soul, while Western education equips the mind — together, they build the future of our state,” Fintiri said.

The overall winner of the Quranic recitation contest, Ahmed Abdulqadir of Yola South, pledged to make Adamawa proud as he represents the state at the national Qur’anic recitation competition in Borno State in the coming weeks.
