Turns out, only minutes after PMQs ended, David Lammy had been made aware of another accidental prisoner released from Wandsworth prison the previous week, a foreign national who had overstayed his Visa and was in the process of deportation.
Sex offender Brahim Kaddour-Cherif had been on the loose for six days. The accidental release came only days after sex offender Hadush Kebatu was accidentally released from Chelmsford prison.
So after refusing to answer the same question five times on PMQs, David Lammy later made a statement: “I am absolutely outraged and appalled by the mistaken release of a foreign criminal wanted by the police.
“The Metropolitan Police is leading an urgent manhunt, and my officials have been working through the night to take him back to prison.”
Which explains why he evaded the question. He knew.
The justice system is an absolute joke, and in all fairness to David who had only been in the job for a month or so, it was a mess before he got there.
However, the Labour Government have managed to make it worse and more than double the rate of mishaps of this nature.
But is David Lammy really the right person to be at the helm?
