The Canon EOS R6 Mark III is equipped with a 32.5-megapixel sensor for higher resolution and greater cropping flexibility, supporting continuous shooting at up to 40 frames per second using the electronic shutter or 12 frames per second with the mechanical shutter. It’s also got the pre-continuous shooting feature that allows users to capture up to 20 frames before the shutter is fully pressed, along with enhanced autofocus algorithms and Register People Priority function that enables focused tracking of designated individuals in group or event settings.
In terms of video performance, the EOS R6 Mark III supports internal 7K 60p RAW recording and introduces 3:2 Open Gate recording at up to 7K 30p RAW, allowing for greater post-production control and reframing flexibility. It offers simultaneous proxy recording to SD cards, expanded format options including Canon Log 2 and HLG gamma, and compatibility with Cinema EOS Custom Picture profiles. Users can import LUT files via the Camera Connect app and access official profiles from the Canon LUT Library.
Physically, the EOS R6 Mark III maintains the ergonomic design of its predecessor (EOS R6 Mark II) with enhanced button customization. By default, it operates on the LP-E6P battery, though those with more demanding production requirements can opt for the BG-R20/BG-R20EP battery grip for extended operation and improved handling during vertical shooting.
Canon RF45mm F1.2 STM
Canon Malaysia Launches EOS R6 Mark III Camera And RF45mm F1.2 STM Lens
Alongside the camera, Canon introduced the RF45mm F1.2 STM lens, a standard prime lens offering a wide f/1.2 aperture and 45mm focal length designed to provide shallow depth of field; it also supports 72mm equivalent angle-of-view on APS-C cameras. The lens incorporates plastic-molded aspherical elements, gear-type STM technology, and digital correction to maintain optical quality while reducing size and weight, which tips the scale at around 346 grams, making it the smallest f/1.2 lens in Canon’s RF and EF lineups.
The combination of the EOS R6 Mark III’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system and 5-axis image stabilization with the RF45mm F1.2 STM lens enables improved low-light performance and sharpness at slower shutter speeds. The pairing is, according to Canon, positioned as a capable option for advanced enthusiasts seeking performance and efficiency across different shooting scenarios.
The Canon EOS R6 Mark III is now available for pre-order through authorized dealers nationwide until 16 November 2025. Pricing starts at RM10,999 for the body only, RM12,499 when bundled with the RF24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM lens, and RM15,999 with the RF24-105mm F4L IS USM lens. So far, Canon Malaysia hasn’t listed the local pricing for the RF45mm F1.2 STM lens.
