As promised, I’m here with a new Killer Trait devlog! Let’s see how each section is going, shall we?
BACKGROUNDS
After long consideration, I’ve decided that the backgrounds for the whole game will be made by Danu Lopez. Hadara did provide huge help with the bases for the living room and kitchen backgrounds (which Danu then finalized), but since she was busy with other work, she had to step down.
I’m happy to say most of the backgrounds for the first 3 chapters are finished!
The issue lies, sadly, with 2 previously finished backgrounds (which I commissioned from a different artist) that I’m going to have to replace, as the final delivery looked a bit too pixelated. It’s unfortunate ’cause it’s lost mo…

WRITING
I’m excited to announce that the writing for DAY 3 has been completed (in fact, as recently as today)! I’ve already sent it to my editor, Morgan; so, once the editing is done, I’ll go ahead and code it into the game.

CGs
Mustache has finished another one of the prologue CGs: Arthur’s! Here’s a little sneak peak of how it looks:
There’s still a few CGs missing from the prologue (basically the intro CGs for Oz, Aslan and Carl.) Apart from those, there’s 2 more that will appear in DAY 3 (though more as “cutin CGs” rather than full ones - similar to the food CGs but a little wider.)
EXCITING NEWS
After mulling it over for several months, I’ve decided that Killer Trait will have 2 more content updates before the final release of the game. That means that the following update will include Day 3 and the last (free) update will include Day 4. After that, you’ll have to wait until the game is finished since it will be a commercial release (with the release date most likely being in 2027 rather than 2026 considering the lenght of the game and the amount of art.)
Why am I doing it like this? Because the game still has a long way to go before it’s finished, so I thought it’d be a good idea to make the demo a couple more chapters longer. That way, players will at least have a little more to enjoy while they wait for the full game.
With that said... when will the next update be? Definitely next year, but hopefully during Q1. The coding of the new chapter itself is not the only thing that needs to be finished, after all. I’d like for the DAY 3 update to have all the new backgrounds and intro CGs; that’s why it might take a little longer.
