A memristor, short for “memory + resistor”, is an electronic device that has both resistance and memory functions, which can be designed as a resistance-based memory. (1) This theoretical concept was first proposed in 1970, leading to a rapid development of memristor-based devices in the subsequent years. (2) Memristor has a typical nonvolatile resistance switching behavior, which can be well used in information memory, also called resistance random access memory (RRAM).
