racoon girl talks to the world

This post is for Bear Blog Carnival, which is a monthly blogging prompt hosted by a rotating cast of volunteers. This month’s theme is “What’s in my inventory?” hosted by Absurd Pirate, which asks people to write about what they carry with them 24/7 or what loot they would drop as a video game character.
Here’s a photo of my inventory:

Casio Digital Watch (LA20WH Series): I love this watch. It does exactly what I want it to: it tells the time. It’s even got an alarm, will beep every hour if I want it to, switches between 12 and 24-hour time, and will tell me the date! I bought it back in March so I could easily find out the time without getting sucked into my phone. 1.
My current journal: this one is a Stalogy Editor’s Series 365Days in A5. I added the added the duck stickers as a gratitude reminder (“I’m a lucky duck”). I really enjoy the grid on the pages and the thin paper. This journal is volume 12, aka my 12th journal since I discovered fountain pens and started journaling in 2021. I began this journal on February 4, 2025 and am about halfway through it. 1.
Rickshaw Bagworks 3-Pen Coozy: my favorite pen case, it has held up really well since I ordered it in September 2022. It is currently housing the following three fountain pens:
- Lamy AL-Star in Turmaline, fine nib, inked with Diamine Polar Glow
- TWSBI Eco Clear, fine nib, inked with Diamine One More Sleep
- Retro 51 Stardust Popper, fine nib, inked with TWSBI Emerald Green
Hydro Flask 40 oz Travel Tumbler: this was a Christmas gift from my mom and stepdad and I adore it. I’m so much more hydrated now! It has a flexy straw top so I don’t feel like I’m about to chip my tooth, it’s dishwasher safe, it has a comfortable handle that makes it easy to carry, and it holds a great amount of water. I carry it from room to room, and cannot oversell it. 1.
Lip balm: I keep these in multiple places around the house vs. carrying them with me, but I really appreciate not having chapped lips. 1.
iPhone SE2: I’ve worked hard to “dumb down” my smart phone (aka make it less addicting), and occasionally get starry-eyed dreams of switching to a non-smart phone. For now though it’s permanently grayscale unless I open an app with an automation set to turn on color when it opens/closes and I use Firefox Focus as my sole web browser, which allows exactly one tab and erases itself so frequently it’s not worth it to log into anything. I’ve pruned the number of apps (just counted, 58, might need some more pruning), turned off all the swooshy animations and parallax effect and set it so I have to hit a button for the screen to light up. It’s a work in progress, but all those changes have definitely improved it’s utility for me.
Thank you Cris for starting up Bear Bog Carnival and AbsurdPirate for hosting, I enjoyed participating ☺️. I recommend you check out the other submissions linked on AbsurdPirates page, there is a lot of variety and I am enjoying reading them as they are added. And feel free to join in!
