It’s just a fair way of deciding who does something, which is why this couple have opted for something much more impressive - using Mario Kart 64.
For 24 years at the time of writing, Louis Hvejsel Bork’s parents have been playing Mario Kart 64 on a daily basis. Why, I hear you ask? Is it because they’re huge fans of the game, or because they’ve grown old together the best of friends and still enjoying the joys of home console gaming? Yes, it’s both of those things... but it’s mainly to decide who makes the cups of tea.
I love how simple this is - if you lose, you have to make the other person a brew, and the winner of the golden cup gets to have a cup of their own in comfort. This has been how they have decided who does this laborious household chore for over two decades, which I think we can all is a fine example of ‘couple goals’.
The poetic thing that I love the most about Louis’ story shared by Fanatics Collect is that this is the original N64 that his parents bought him for Christmas. Despite the fact that he no longer lives at home and seemingly hasn’t gotten to take his N64 with hi, his parents are still using the same machine to complete this daily ritual.
This isn’t just a win for couch-co-op gaming; it’s a win for tradition, for retro gaming, and for the love two people share when it comes to the hatred of making tea. I’ll drink a cup to that!
