You Should Invest In This Game Changing ARC Raiders ASAP
One of the many ways ARC Raiders differentiates itself from its competition is by offering a meaningful character progression system that rewards player creativity. Although some of the skills have drastically greater effects on your moment-to-moment gameplay than others, there are still a few surprises in between to help shake up your regular gameplay loop.
While there has been plenty of debate on which skills are worth upgrading or not in ARC Raiders, and which you should entirely avoid, the survival tree as a whole is easily one of the best you can choose from.
Even if Conditioning and Mobility each have their own strengths, this single skill in ARC Raiders’ Survival tree makes any investment worth its skill points in spades.
Field Crafting Is One Of The Strongest Abilities In ARC Raiders
While putting a few starting points into Marathon Runner and Youthful Lungs isn’t a bad idea to start with, the In-Round Crafting skill from Survival is an absolute game-changer for increasing our survivability during raids, with the caveat of costing more resources to craft than in your stash.
Allowing you to craft an assortment of basic recipes with resources you find, while on the surface, the In-Round Crafting ability is one that I will never forgive myself for not getting as soon as I could at level 3 to craft the following recipes:
- Bandages
- Shield Recharger
- Light Impact Grenade
- Li’l Smoke Grenade
- Flame Spray
- Fruit Mix
- Agave Juice
- Adrenaline Shot
Given how limited your inventory space is in the early stages of *ARC Raiders *or when using a budget loadout with fewer slots, being able to craft supplies while in-raid is an excellent way not to have to worry about wasting inventory space or resources from overstocking before a raid.
Even though you can already use ARC Powercells and basic fabric materials to restore shields and health manually, respectively, it’s far more efficient to craft them into their more potent counterparts before using them.
While this survival skill alone is already great for not having to waste resources on filling up your medical loot supplies, it gets even better after reaching its next upgrade tier. After investing a total of 17 points in Survival, you’ll also be able to unlock the even stronger Traveling Tinkerer ability, which lets you craft some more advanced abilities with the following recipes:
- Noisemaker Device
- Blaze Grenade Trap
- Smoke Grenade Trap
- Lure Grenade Trap
- Gas Grenade Trap
- Herbal Bandage
- Raider’s Hatch Key
Given how simple most of these recipes are to craft with simple base grenades and wires, the Traveling Tinkerer ability drastically increases your utility when adapting to combat situations on the fly, especially with its Raider’s Hatch Key. While the Raider’s Hatch Key is quite expensive to craft using Advanced Components and Sensors, its life-saving utility for quickly escaping a raid has fantastic gameplay potential.
ARC Raiders Has Plenty Of Powerful Skills Worth Investing In
If you’ve already spent the 17 skill points needed to get Traveling Tinkerer from Survival, you’re nearly halfway to getting the Security Breach skill at level 37. While it’s an arduous journey to get Security Breach, and I would recommend dumping a few points into stamina skills from Mobility on the way, Security Breach is another incredibly underrated ability to easily get some of the best loot in the game from Security Lockers.
With each Security Locker having roughly 2–3 rows of items, the potential to get numerous epic rarity items, and the guarantee of at least one gun, the rewards from Security Breach drastically outweigh even loot-dedicated key rooms.
The only concern when it comes to the Security Breach skill is that many players have been desperately begging for a nerf, given how overpowered the skill is on its own, which easily outweights many of the skills from ARC Raiders’ other two skill trees.
While Calming stroll’s faster walking stamina regeneration sounds great on paper, it only applies when using the slow-moving functionality that has to be manually toggled, not your default jogging pace.
While the rewards for many of the latter Conditioning skills are hard to justify the investment, some of the early to middle upgrades are not a bad choice for a fledgling raider. With skills like Proficient Pryer reducing breaching speed, and Fight or Flight helping to escape near-death encounters, they’re both great ways to enhance your long-term survivability in ARC Raiders.
ARC Raiders Lets You Reset Your Skill Tree, With A Catch
Thankfully, even if you’re already regretting your skill point allocation or want to restart from scratch entirely, ARC Raiders does have its own prestige system with plenty of worthwhile rewards for dedicated players. Rather than a preset wipe time like Escape From Tarkov or fully independent prestige systems in Hunt Showdown, ARC Raiders has a significant edge with its voluntary periodic expeditions.
Unlocked from level 20, you’ll need to invest a significant amount of resources into funding your raider’s expedition during a set bi-monthly period, after which you’ll be able to say goodbye to your character in exchange for progression-based buffs for the next season, greater stash capacity, easier crafting, and exclusive cosmetics.
Unfortunately, there’s currently no way to reset your skill tree without wiping the rest of your raider progression, which includes your stash, blueprints, coins, workshop upgrades, and any completed quests. While you do keep all meta progression and can jump right onto any map without having to grind all over again, it’s understandable that not many players will be willing to lose all their ARC Raiders progress just for a more efficient build.
