A new K-drama has been among the trending non-English shows on Netflix, and it is the perfect 8-part series for all K-drama fans. The K-drama scene has exploded on Netflix in recent years as the platform continues to grow its catalog with everything from romantic comedies like My Demon and Crash Landing on You to intense thrillers like Squid Game, Sweet Home, and Hellbound. Recently, Netflix also invested in a lighthearted rom-com K-drama, which has all the right ingredients that make South Korean shows incredibly entertaining and engaging.
New K-Drama Romantics Anonymous Has Been One Of The Top Trending Non-English Shows On Netflix
According to official data (via Tudum), a new K-drama, Romantics Anonymous, was among the top 5 non-English shows on Netflix between 20 October 2025 and 26 October 2025. During the period, the K-drama dominated Netflix’s streaming charts and ranked at number 3 among the top trending shows after garnering a total of 2.6 million views.
The trending K-drama follows a bizarre premise where two offbeat characters cross paths. While one is a chocolatier who struggles to make eye contact with others, the other is an heir who has an aversion to touch. To their surprise, they are both immune to each other’s conditions, making them the perfect rom-com pair.
Many viewers and critics have appreciated the series for the performances of its cast members and the convincing chemistry between its two leads. From a sensitivity standpoint, many have also pointed out that it does an incredible job of portraying its two main characters’ conditions without turning them into stereotypes or sources of cheap humor.
All in all, while the show’s slice-of-life flavor and romantic drama warms one heart, its chocolate-making scenes leave viewers craving more.
Romantics Anonymous Is A Fun Remake Of An Acclaimed French-Belgian Movie
Interestingly, Romantics Anonymous serves as the TV remake of a 2010 film of the same name. Titled Les Émotifs anonymes in French, the movie was directed by Jean-Pierre Améris and starring Benoît Poelvoorde and Isabelle Carré. It got its name from a real-life help group that helps with conditions like extreme shyness.
The film’s director attended meetings held by the real Emotions Anonymous (EA), which eventually helped him come up with the idea behind the film. Even the movie’s leading actress, Isabelle Carré, later attended EA’s meetings to prepare for her role.
For obvious reasons, the hit Netflix K-drama takes some of its own creative liberties instead of completely emulating the original movie’s formula. It still comes off as a solid and emotionally resonant take on the themes and character beats explored in the film, making it the perfect show for all K-drama fans.
