The offseason is upon us as the Los Angeles Dodgers won one of the greatest World Series games ever played, defeating the Toronto Blue Jays to capture back-to-back championships — the first team to accomplish the feat since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees. With free agency about to start and blockbuster trades in motion, here is Sportsnaut’s final MLB Power Rankings heading into the offseason.

The Dodgers are officially a dynasty after pulling off one of the greatest Game 7 wins of all time. They’ve won three World Series titles in six years, still have the greatest player ever in Shohei Ohtani for the next eight years and figure to be in contention to sign Kyle Tucker. But what about their bullpen for 2026?
2. Toronto Blue Jays

The 2025 Blue Jays were two outs away from immortality before Dodgers nine-hole hitter Miguel Rojas smashed a hanging slider from closer Jeff Hoffman to tie the game. But their season was still a success, capturing the American League East and first AL pennant since 1993. They have to figure out if they’re going to bring back homegrown star Bo Bichette, but they found their ace of the future in Trey Yesavage during the postseason.
3. Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners were one win away from reaching their first World Series in franchise history and now have holes to fill with third baseman Eugenio Suarez, second baseman Jorge Polanco and first baseman Josh Naylor all hitting free agency. But they still boast one of the best hitters in the game in Cal Raleigh, all-around player Julio Rodriguez and a top-tier rotation.
4. New York Yankees

The New York Yankees will enter their 16th consecutive offseason without a World Series title. Cody Bellinger, Trent Grisham, Paul Goldschmidt, Devin Williams and Luke Weaver are free agents. But things aren’t dire in the Bronx. Aaron Judge will most likely win his third AL MVP, Cam Schlittler emerged as a key rotation piece and Gerrit Cole will return in 2026.
5. Milwaukee Brewers

It will be an interesting offseason for the Milwaukee Brewers after winning an MLB-best 97 games and making it to the NLCS. Former All-Star pitcher Brandon Woodruff is now a free agent after declining his option, the team didn’t pick up Jose Quintana’s option for 2026 and rumors are swirling they could deal ace Freddy Peralta. If that happens, Jacob Misiorowski could slot in as their No. 1 pitcher. They also have future superstar Jackson Chourio leading the offense. You can never count this team out.
6. Philadelphia Phillies

A third consecutive disappointing postseason exit where the offense disappeared has raised questions about what the Philadelphia Phillies should do with their aging lineup. They have Kyle Schwarber, J.T. Realmuto and Ranger Suarez hitting free agency while waiting to see how Zack Wheeler returns following surgery to remove a blood clot near his right shoulder. On top of that, they have to mend fences with Bryce Harper after trade rumors swirled when president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski questioned if he could be “elite” again. It won’t be a quiet offseason in South Philadelphia.
7. Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs pulled off a blockbuster trade for All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker last offseason, and this winter they could already be saying goodbye. Tucker is a free agent who could command a contract upward of $400 million, so it seems like his time at Wrigley Field is coming to an end. Even though the Tucker era might be over, they have a young core in Pete Crow-Armstrong, Matt Shaw, Moises Ballesteros, Owen Caissie and Cade Horton to lead them into the future.
8. Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox have a bright future with a young core featuring Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell, but they could have a big hole to fill with Alex Bregman opting out of his contract to enter free agency again. Despite missing multiple weeks due to a quad injury, he made his third All-Star team and finished the season with 18 home runs and an .821 OPS. The Red Sox also could trade one of their outfielders to upgrade a rotation featuring AL Cy Young finalist Garrett Crochet.
9. San Diego Padres

The San Diego Padres have several holes to fill this offseason. They need to find some power in the outfield and at first base to surround Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado and Jackson Merrill in the lineup after the team ranked 28th in home runs with 152. They’re also going to have to address a rotation that could miss 60% of its starters with Dylan Cease and Michael King entering free agency and Yu Darvish’s elbow injury costing him all of 2026.
10. Cleveland Guardians

Jose Ramirez had another MVP-caliber season — 30 home runs, 34 doubles, 44 stolen bases, .863 OPS, 137 OPS+ and 5.8 bWAR — helping lead the Cleveland Guardians to an improbable AL Central title. They have prospects in Chase DeLauter and Travis Bazzana who can contribute next season. The Guardians, though, need to figure out how to replace All-Star closer Emmanuel Clase as it appears his MLB career could be at an end over a gambling investigation.
11. New York Mets

After having the best record in baseball at one point during the 2025 season, the New York Mets collapsed and surprisingly missed the playoffs following Juan Soto’s record-breaking contract. The Mets need to figure out if they want to bring Pete Alonso back as he enters free agency again, fix a struggling rotation and revamp a bullpen. Oh, and they need to find a new center fielder. That’s all.
12. Detroit Tigers

The major question facing the Detroit Tigers this offseason is the future of reigning AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal. Both sides were reportedly hundreds of millions of dollars apart on extension talks, and Skubal will be a free agent after the 2026 season. The Tigers need to decide if they’re going to do what it takes to keep Skubal. If not, they need to trade him to the highest bidder.
13. Houston Astros

The Houston Astros will look to reclaim AL West supremacy in 2026 after injuries to Yordan Alvarez, Jeremy Pena, Isaac Paredes, Luis Garcia, Lance McCullers Jr. and others derailed their season. But the Astros are getting older and Framber Valdez is hitting free agency, so they could have a big hole to fill in their rotation.
14. Atlanta Braves
Credit: Jordan Godfree-Imagn Images
Injuries absolutely ravaged the Atlanta Braves in 2025 as they missed the playoffs for the first time since 2017. Michael Harris II and Ozzie Albies also struggled offensively for most of the season. But if they’re able to get healthy, especially their rotation featuring Chris Sale, Reynaldo Lopez, Spencer Strider and Spencer Schwellenbach, they should be right back in NL East contention.
15. Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds have a bright future with their stellar rotation led by Hunter Greene as they made the playoffs for the first time since 2020. However, they need help offensively. They finished 21st in home runs (167) and tied for 19th in OPS (.706). Could they lure Kyle Schwarber to play for his favorite childhood team?
