This is my post to participate in the BearBlog carnival :D

The prompt is here. It is essentially “If life were a video game, and you were killed, what would be your loot drop?” Fairly interesting. I like to think of this prompt as a “What is my Everyday Carry (EDC)?”

I don’t pay for Bearblog, so I can’t post a photo of my loot. I shall describe it here:

Legendary Loot (5-Star Rarity)

These items are mostly irreplaceable and high in value. If found, they should be grabbed immediately.

💻 Computer

My trusty 14in M1 Pro MacBook Pro. I carry it almost everywhere. If a disaster were to happen, this would be one of the, if not the, only thing I run out with. Not that it actually has data on its drive - everything is stored in the cloud. It is that my MacBook is so…capable. It has fans, a great screen, a very capable operating system and chipset…it is simply everything I need in a computer, full stop. Buying another MacBook would be expensive, or frankly any other moderately capable laptop. My Mac is very important to me.

🎧 Headphones

Headphones: Uliptz WH202A. I got these as a gift from a friend a while ago. I find these to be quite competent headphones, but they are not the best. The sound is quite good, with a bunch of built-in EQ settings hardcoded in an EQ button. The (likely foam) cushions are soft, and battery life is very excellent. They also support AUX audio, so I can plug these into any aux jack (assuming I have an M-M aux connector). My problem is that the left ear pad’s cover is tearing off, likely due to the glue wearing out. I don’t want to pay money for new headphones just yet, since these are quite good anyway. So, I just tapped the torn sections back on.

📱 Phone

Phone: iPhone 14. Not much to say here, other than I like my iPhone. It feels like a very capable tool, especially with different apps on it. I find it crazy that adding an app can extend the functionality of a phone. For example, Parcel can track packages, or Unread can track my RSS sources for me, things the iPhone by default doesn’t quite do.

Epic Gear (4-Star Rarity)

These items are durable, reliable, and provide significant QoL (Quality-of-Life) bonuses.

⏱️ Watch

Watch: an analog Biden (yes, that is the company’s name) watch. Mine tells military time, regular time, and the date, all very useful things to me. I also like its black and white colors.

Category: Accessory Rating: Reliability 10/10 Buff: +50 Focus Effect: Know the time whenever you want

💧 Water Bottle

Water bottle: It is always pretty bad to be stranded in a place with no confident way to drink good water. I always fill my water bottle whenever I leave home. This is your reminder to go drink some water!

Category: Consumable Rating: Hydration 10/10 Buff: +10 Health per gulp Effect: Prevent Dehydration Debuff

Rare Gear (3-Star Rarity)

These items are consumable utilities that contribute in unique ways.

📝 Writing Tools

Pens/pencils/high-polymer eraser/paper: It is always good to have some way to write something down physically. High-polymer erasers are the best type.

Category: Documentation Rating: Offline Backup 10/10 Buff: +100 Preparedness Effect: Expend thoughts physically

👓 Glasses

Glasses: Because I need to see the beauty of the world.

Category: Gear Rating: Visual Clarity 10/10 Buff: +100 Perception (only to specific wearers) Effect: Enhanced visuals to certain wearers

🎒 Bag

Whatever bag I have: It changes depending on where I am going.

Category: Container Rating: Storage 9/10 Buff: +1 Inventory storage Effect: Safe transport of certain loot

⚡️ Charger

USB-C charger brick/cable: It is always useful to have a charger. I don’t carry around a Lightning cable because I never need to charge my phone when I’m out and about.

Category: Power Rating: Speed 7/10 Buff: +50 Electricity Effect: Charge more useful devices like MacBook

🧹 Microfiber Cloth

Microfiber cloth - really useful for cleaning my screens. I am very picky about keeping my screens clean.

Category: Cleaning Rating: Cleaning Ability 8/10 Buff: +10 Durability Effect: Remove Smudge/Dirt Debuff

That’s my current load. My character is pretty well mixed in loot capability. Hopefully I get more Legendary loot in the future.
