This week, the New York Jets traded away one of their star players, sending defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys. While Williams played his entire career with the Jets before the trade, it sounds like he’s more than happy to be leaving the team.

This week, the team traded Williams to the Cowboys in exchange for a 2027 first-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick, and defensive tackle Mazi Smith. During his first press conference since joining the Cowboys, Williams admitted that the team’s lack of success over the past few seasons has been frustrating.
“They knew I was frustrated. I think the world knew I was frustrated being there so long and still losing,” Williams said, according to Pro Football Talk.
Since Williams joined the team, the Jets have a 33-75 record. Williams made it clear that he wasn’t happy about this lack of success, especially after playing his college football with the Alabama Crimson Tide.
“But like I say, any ultra competitor, man, any guy who plays this game to win is going to be frustrated no matter if you win 100 games and lose that one or when I was at Bama, I went 16-1 and lost the national championship, I was frustrated,” Williams said.
Williams made it clear that he had a great personal relationship with the Jets and head coach Aaron Glen, but he just wants to be in a position to win.
“I’m hungry to win,” Williams said. “That’s the main thing. Like I said at the beginning, I’m an ultimate competitor, man. Everything I do is about winning. Everything I do, everything I work. When I wake up, man, I just want to win. That kind of forms my ego of I can do anything the coaches ask me to do if it’s going to get us a win.”
We’ll have to see whether or not Williams can accomplish his goals with the Cowboys.
