A group of 55 early childhood academics have urged federal, state and territory governments to take six actions to restore public trust in the childcare system.

These include lifting workforce quality through better pay, conditions and training, lowering staff-to-child ratios and better resourcing regulators to conduct frequent, unannounced inspections.
