BREVARD, NORTH CAROLINA – NOVEMBER 6, 2025 — MTB Skills Factory proudly announces that its owner, Josh Whitmore, has achieved the highly coveted Level 4 Coaching Certification, a mark of excellence that distinguishes him among an elite group of mountain bike coaches globally. With Josh’s new certification, MTB Skills Factory now stands as the only company in the United States with two Level 4 certified coaches, alongside fellow coach Kristian Jackson.
The Level 4 Certification represents the pinnacle of mountain bike education, offered by the Global Mountain Bike Coaching (GSMBC) program. It’s the gold standard in mountain bike coaching excellence and a true testament to superior riding capabilities. Achieving this most advanced milestone demands mastery and advanced skills over some of the most challenging expert terrain, alongside providing outstanding coaching expertise to help elite riders reach their full potential.
For Josh, reaching this prestigious milestone has been a journey fueled by his “Big Hairy Audacious Goal” (BHAG)—a concept of visionary targets outlined by Jim Collins and Jerry Porras in “Built to Last. “When I found out I had passed all assessments for the Level 4 certification, a sense of relief and pride washed over me,” shares Josh. “This journey taught me invaluable lessons about perseverance, focusing on the process, and the critical role of community support in achieving audacious dreams. It’s not just about becoming a better coach or rider—it’s about embracing the journey itself.”
Starting more than 25 years ago, Josh’s journey to excellence is one of relentless dedication. Emphasizing strengths while learning from occasional setbacks—“failing forward,” as he passionately describes— has been instrumental in his path to success.
