Safari has long had a reading list in its sidebars, a place to store temporary bookmarks to websites you want to revisit when you have time to focus on them. Both DEVONthink and DEVONthink To Go also have a reading list with the same idea for documents.
In DEVONthink, the Reading List is one of the sidebars on the left side of a main window. Choose View > Sidebar: Reading List or press ⌥⌘2 to switch to this sidebar. In DEVONthink To Go, it is listed on the databases screen in the global smart groups.
On the Mac, add items to the Reading List via Add To > Reading List in the Data or context menu. You can also use the Services menu in your browser. Control-click a link, then choose Services > DEVONthink: Add to Reading List. In the Reading List, use the context menu to mark a document as read, open it in a new tab or window, reveal or trash it, or even remove all items. On your iPhone or iPad, use Add to > Reading List in a document’s context or action menu. In the list, use the context menu to mark items as read or remove them.
The Reading List is similar to the Favorites but has a few important differences:
- The Reading List only supports documents as you can logically only read them. Favorites can contain documents, groups, or even databases.
 - You can filter what you’re seeing in the list, where Favorites are always visible. In DEVONthink, choose Unread to view only items in the list you haven’t yet looked at. Choose All to see everything you’ve added. In DEVONthink To Go, tap the filter button at the bottom of the item list to toggle between all or unread items.

And as you might have guessed, the Reading List syncs between DEVONthink and DEVONthink To Go providing an uninterrupted flow when syncing your databases. Do note, the list will display all documents, even those unavailable on the device. They will just not function unless the database they’re linked to is imported or opened.
