In 2025, the technology conversation across business has shifted decisively, and family offices are no exception. The latest edition of Simple’s Family Office Software & Technology Report shows a sector moving from curiosity to competence as technology becomes embedded in daily operations.
The annual report draws on insights from offices, users, and vendors. This year the focus is on how next-generation principals and operational leaders are driving the demand for better technology. Their focus is on finding a better fit between their needs and the vendor capabilities, interoperability, and evidence that software can improve their operations, rather than just adding dashboards. According to the report, it’s no surprise that most vendors now deploy AI, so the question is no longer “if” but “what does it fix?” Does it clean data? Does it save time? Is it safe? Is it compliant?
With the technology race heating up, speed and implementation quality has also become a new key expectation. Family offices want partners who can deploy, integrate, and maintain systems with minimal manual intervention. Beyond this, there also seems to be an increasing need for services alongside just pure technology – something that seems to align with the trend of increased outsourcing and smaller teams.
Simple’s report highlighted the following landscape map of tech solutions.
Simple 2025
Thirteen Platform Categories
What was once a fragmented field of point solutions with overlapping use cases and features has matured into thirteen core categories outlined in detail in the report. Each focussing on a different dimension of how family offices manage data, investments, governance, and reporting.

Key insights from the 2025 data
The report covers various aspects of the changing market in detail, but there were several key insights that stood out.
**Integration is the top challenge. **Offices want connections that are stable, monitored, and auditable, especially around private-market data.
**Innovation is uneven. **Legacy workflows and tools persist, and automation only matters when it is actually able to replace manual work rather than creating more work.
**Accuracy is the new KPI. **Data quality is crucial and buyers look for vendors that can ensure 100% accuracy.
**User experience is now hygiene. **Users expect intuitive design, simple configuration, and fast onboarding no matter who they are.
**AI has become infrastructure. **The most useful deployments seem to sit inside reconciliation, tagging, and workflow automation.
**Implementation is the battleground. **Platforms win by showing their product in action quickly — not by only showing polished demos.
**Software is becoming a service. **Hybrid models that include services or financial-ops and backoffice support have become core differentiators.
Signals of a maturing market
This year’s research shows that integration is no longer a technical exercise but a governance question. Data ownership, compliance alignment and evidence of control are influencing software choices as much as functionality. Offices want systems that can withstand turnover, audits and regulatory scrutiny while still being simple enough for daily use.
At the same time, the market itself is consolidating. Vendors now compete on performance metrics — data quality, reconciliation accuracy, and uptime. Many are expanding horizontally into multi-module ecosystems, while others focus narrowly on private markets or automation layers that plug into broader stacks. The discussion between all-in-one platforms and modular interoperability remains dynamic.
Looking ahead
The next stage of evolution will center on interoperability and explainable AI. Family offices will demand transparency and ownership — not only from their data but from the algorithms that process it. Proof of accuracy, permissioned access, and audit trails will define credibility.
Well-funded platforms are accelerating feature releases and deep integrations, while younger entrants offer leaner, more open architectures that prioritize agility and customer focus. The first signs of data-first approaches such as data lakes — built to plug into other systems — are emerging, signaling the start of genuine interoperability across stacks.
Amid a wave of “AI-native” claims, due diligence is becoming essential. Not all AI is equal: security, data governance, and provenance matter as much as innovation.

The landscape of solutions spans the full technology stack, from data aggregation and accounting to private markets operations and governance platforms. Each category represents a capability that family offices now view as essential infrastructure rather than optional tools.
