NFL teams completed 22 in-season trades before the Tuesday deadline, the most on record.

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane theorized that younger GMs who grew up making trades in their fantasy leagues could help explain the increase.

The GMs making the most expensive additions this season have been around awhile: 82-year-old Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys and 56-year-old Chris Ballard of the Indianapolis Colts.

Jones, who purchased the Cowboys in 1989, has talked about his own mortality, referencing a cancer scare he overcame, in explaining why he feels urgency to win his first title since 1996.
