The Sun Belt Conference on Monday announced the suspensions of 13 Louisiana and Texas State players for their involvement in a fight after UL’s 42-39 win on Saturday.
Videos from the incident appeared to show a Texas State player throw the first punch amid a confrontation, before more scuffles broke out. Eleven of the 13 suspended players will miss one game, but Louisiana safety Tyree Skipper was suspended for the rest of the season, including any possible bowl game, as video showed him swinging his helmet at Texas State players. Texas State’s Tymere Jackson was suspended for two games.

The other suspended players from Texas State are Khamari Terrell, Justin DeLeon, Kyran Bourda, J.P. Deeter and Devarrick Woods, who will miss one game each. The other suspended Louisiana players are Courtline Flowers, Kody Jackson, Kailep Edwards, Collin Jacob, Evan Stroman, De’Antonio Lesueur.
“There is no place for this type of behavior in college football,” Sun Belt commissioner Keith Gill said in a statement. “This unfortunate postgame incident overshadowed what was a competitive regional rivalry game on the field. While the spirit of competition is central to what we do in college athletics, postgame actions like these will not be tolerated in the Sun Belt Conference.”

Louisiana head coach Michael Desormeaux said after the game that another incident happened in the tunnel.
“It pisses me off the way the game ended,” he said. “I thought that was completely classless on their part. After the play when we’re trying to kneel the ball, it starts there, and then it continues all the way up the tunnel. So I think there’s no room for that in college football.”
Louisiana and Texas State have played 13 times in their history as Sun Belt members, with the Cajuns winning all 13. Texas State will join the Pac-12 next season.
