Jasper Cartwright, who played in the Dimension 20 “Burrow’s End” campaign and Critical Role’s “The Re-Slayer’s Take,” will run the one-shot adventure “Echoes of the Father.” Abubakar Salim (Raised by Wolves) plays Salim, the heir to the cowardly Highprince Roion from Sanderson’s books. Salim assembles a party of other would-be heroes played by Jacqueline Emerson, Oxventure host Jane Douglas, and Mark/Mara Hulmes (Critical Role) to venture to the wartorn and monster-infested Shattered Plains to retrieve a Shardblade, a magic sword coveted by Roshar’s elite warriors. Cartwright ran the Candela Obscura game “Thresher” for the same group of players on Critical Role.
The crew will be in full costume and the production also blends visual effects to create a cinematic experience showcasing the stormwracked world of Roshar. “Echoes of the Father” will be a standalone story, but could expand in the future as part of the new Eternal Realms studios created through a collaboration between Cartwright’s 12 Sided Studios and production company Paragon Pictures.
“To get to craft a story with a world-class team behind me, an unbelievable table in front of me, and the unwavering support of Brotherwise has been one of the highlights of my career,” Cartwright said in a news release. “I have fallen in love with Roshar and the Cosmere RPG. I couldn’t be prouder of what we have created.”
The Cosmere RPG is the most-funded tabletop game in Kickstarter history. While the initial books are set on Roshar, future products will continue to explore the interconnected worlds of Sanderson’s Cosmere, with Mistborn books expected to arrive in 2026.
