While the electronic music duo Daft Punk are remaining steadfast in their decision to split, it’s still been an exciting year for fans, especially if you play Fortnite. Back in September, The Daft Punk Experience was introduced in the game as a unique island that shot you through an audiovisual kaleidoscope before dropping you on a stage to watch *Fortnite *versions of the musicians perform. It was accompanied by a bundle that included skins, Jack Tracks, and more. Now the collab has gone one step further with a brand-new music video for their song “Contact,” which is heavily featured in the Daft Punk Experience. What’s more, the video was made in collaboration with Epic Games and is based on The Daft Punk Experience.
Magnopus, the studio behind the video, also provided a good level of detail about how the project came to life. According to a site post, Epic provided the team with the “source assets and creative direction” needed to “produce a final, high-quality render.” The tweaks made include changes to lighting, camera angles, and enhanced effects. Of course, the band was involved, as Magnopus also worked with Daft Life — the band’s corporation — to ensure it aligned with the music duo’s “creative vision.” The end result is a nearly lifelike version of Fortnite’s Daft Punk Experience, with the duo flying through it themselves. And it looks absolutely fantastic. In fact, it might be enough to lead people to either revisit or make their first trip to The Daft Punk Experience, which is still available in Fortnite.
It should be noted that while this is a new music video, it’s not a new song. “Contact” was the last track on the band’s fourth and final album, 2013’s Random Access Memories. If you’re not familiar with Daft Punk, that’s the album with the Pharrell Williams song “Get Lucky.” It’s also not the first music video they’ve released this year. Early in 2025, the duo dropped a video for “Television Rules the Nation” from their 2005 album, Human After All.
