In order to determine which product categories might have less competition for a new business, I’m attempting to analyze import data for Turkey. Using UN Comtrade Plus(or any other website that serves the same purpose), I intend to:
Obtain the total imports into Turkey by category.
Compare it to China’s overall imports by category.
The objective is to identify industries with high levels of Chinese imports and low levels of overall competition so that I can focus on them.
Has anyone previously taken a similar action? For this type of analysis, how trustworthy is the Comtrade data, and are there any tricks for efficiently filtering or interpreting it?
