Hello dear reddit community, I hope you are doing well and that you continue with your lion dance practices. On my part, I apologize in advance if I haven’t posted here for a long time, but the reason is the same as why I’m making this post: to announce that I finally finished fixing my lion.
I think it was a beautiful odyssey because there were many moments when I felt discouraged and wanted to leave it and let another three months pass without touching the lion again, but I was determined to finish it today no matter what, and I went out with the lion and showed it in a not-so-conventional way at an anime event that was held here in the city where I live.

It’s important to say that I didn’t do it with the intention of people seeing it as cosplay, but just so they could know what a Chinese lion is, because here people don’t know what it is. Still, people who told me “nice cosplay” I kindly explained that it was a Chinese lion and told them a bit about what it is, in a way spreading what lion dance is.
About the lion’s colors, at first it was going to be completely orange as the main color (and I realized later that in theory I was making a phoenix representation in the lion, because it’s a very old lion from my group and I decided to give it a second chance). The color choice was first a debate between choosing red or yellow, and in the end I combined both colors. The second reason I chose orange is because I have a keychain-style lion in that same color and a child-sized lion head in orange.
And now, why is the fur pink?
Technically this wasn’t my choice, but because I literally walked all over the city looking for synthetic fur or plush fabric in orange color and I didn’t find it. I found white, but that would mean dyeing or painting it, and I didn’t want that because of how it might turn out later. So I just chose the pink one, which was the only color they had. And that’s it.
Well, I hope you’re all doing well. Here I leave a photo of the “before” and maybe in a second post I’ll share the photo of the lion from different angles. But for now I leave this and hope you’re well.
Good morning, afternoon or night. 🐍👋♥️
