It turns out that Bowser is quite the artist. Not only can he create phenomenal songs, he can also paint masterpieces. The official trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie showed him painting some jaw-dropping art. We want in. We here at Shacknews want to commission King Bowser to create some paintings for us. Here’s what we want to hang on our walls.

From just a glimpse of what the trailer showed us, it feels like Bowser has a little bit of interest in classic paintings. HIs first painting shown is Mario as a Dry Bones, but also seems to evoke Edvard Munch’s The Scream. That brings me to the second point. He seems to still have a lot of animosity for Mario (and why wouldn’t he? Mario called his paintings trash).
If he hasn’t done it already, I bet Bowser could whip up a pretty good adaptation of Francisco de Goya’s painting, Saturn Devouring His Son, with Bowser taking the place of Saturn, and Mario… well, obviously getting munched… It would help him to vent some frustration and I do believe he could do it justice, although I suspect Bowser would make himself look far more handsome and less monstrous than the spindly and terrifying Saturn.
Bear in mind, Goya’s original painting is quite gruesome, so I have chosen to substitute a picture of Cookie Monster from Sesame Street. It has the same grotesque and ravenous energy, but in a kid-friendly and charming package.
The Luigi Death Stare (Descending a Staircase) - Asif Khan, Luigi’s Number One Fan
I love the Luigi Death Stare meme enough to commission Bowser to paint an interpretation of it but maybe with Luigi powersliding his Kart down a staircase in Peach’s Castle?
Bob-omb Battlefield - Sam Chandler, Keeps jumping at paintings

You cannot beat a classic. Bob-omb Battlefield was where it all began. It was the first painting you could jump into in Super Mario 64. Gone were the overworld maps and linear gameplay. With castle full of paintings, hidden walls, and other oddities, you could explore more locations than ever before. Even now, all these years later, whenever I load up my 100% save file in Super Mario 64, the first place I run is Bob-omb Battlefield. I’d love if Bowser could do up his rendition of the iconic painting.
Pauline - Donovan Erskine,

I love Peach, but Mario Odyssey made me a Pauline guy. I’d ask Bowser to paint the New Donk City Festival, with Pauline singing on top of a skyscraper. One of my all-time favorite gaming moments immortalized in paint!
Chain Chomp or something fun! - Steve Tyminski, A real Koop-icasso!

What painting would I commission Bowser, King of the Koopas to paint for me? It was revealed during the Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer that Bowser isn’t just a talented singer, he is also a very good artist. So that got us thinking, what should we get Bowser to paint for us? The first thing that comes to mind for me is something Chain Chomp related. I use Chain Chomp as a logo for live-streaming and Bowser is already familiar with Chain Chomp because they are a member of the Koopa Troop. I have another option, an option out of left field for Bowser to take on. I want the Last Supper starring the Super Mario Brothers. It would appear that Reddit has a lot of these but I want a genuine Bowser original. I’d tell him to have fun with it. Anyway, my first choice is a Chain Chomp but my second is The Last Supper gone Mario!
Those are the painting ideas we have for King Bowser. The question is, does he have one art style or is he able to paint all kinds of styles? And, furthermore, what is his rate? I’d assume a king would have a pretty hefty fee. We eagerly await Nintendo’s response to our painting requests. Check out our Shack Chat page for our library of previous topics!
