Danish audio brand Tangent has quietly given its popular Spectrum series a full refresh. The new Spectrum II lineup keeps the clean Scandinavian design that made the originals so appealing but introduces improved engineering throughout — from updated crossovers to a stronger sense of tonal balance.
Available in matte black or matte white, the series is built to fit any kind of setup — whether it’s a simple stereo system in the living room or a full-blown Dolby Atmos home cinema.

The Tangent Spectrum II XLCR loudspeaker represents a new on-wall LCR loudspeaker option in the series, designed for discreet placement and designed to complement other models in the line, delivering cohesive sound for home theater or multichannel systems.
A complete family of speakers
Rather than just tweaking one or two models, Tangent has gone all in. The Spectrum II range now includes bookshelf speakers, floorstanders, a center channel, on-wall LCRs, Atmos modules, and a powered subwoofer. In short: everything you need to build a full system that looks and sounds consistent from top to bottom.
Inside, Tangent has overhauled the crossovers with polypropylene capacitors, iron oxide resistors, and large inductors — all chosen to reduce distortion and tighten up the bass. Each model shares the same acoustic DNA, which means you can mix and match freely without losing tonal harmony.

The Spectrum II X4 and X5 are compact two-way bookshelf speakers suitable for smaller rooms or for use as part of a larger multi-channel surround sound system.
Compact charm – Spectrum II X4 & X5
The smallest members of the family, the X4 and X5, are neat little two-way bookshelf speakers designed for smaller spaces, desktops, or as rear channels in a surround system.
X4: 25 mm tweeter, 110 mm mid/bass driver, 65 Hz–20 kHz, 6 Ω, 50 W RMS.
X5: 25 mm tweeter, 130 mm mid/bass driver, 60 Hz–20 kHz, 6 Ω, 60 W RMS, 88 dB sensitivity.
Despite their size, both punch well above their weight. They carry the same understated look as the rest of the line — no flashy finishes, just timeless Danish simplicity.
Spectrum II X6 – a real performer
If you need something with more muscle, the Spectrum II X6 is a proper 2.5-way floorstander with two 130 mm drivers and a 25 mm dome tweeter. It’s rated at 100 W RMS, with 90 dB sensitivity and a 50 Hz–20 kHz frequency range — more than enough to fill a medium to large room with rich, confident sound.
It’s the kind of speaker that blends effortlessly into a living space but can still hold its own when the volume goes up.
Center stage clarity – Spectrum II XC & XLCR
The Spectrum II XC serves as the dedicated center channel for home cinema setups. Using two 110 mm mid/bass drivers and a 25 mm tweeter in a bass-reflex design, it offers 80 W RMS and a 55 Hz–20 kHz frequency range.

The Tangent Spectrum II XC center channel speaker utilizes two 110mm midrange/woofer drivers and a 25mm dome tweeter in a two-way bass-reflex configuration.
There’s also a brand-new XLCR on-wall model — a slim, horizontally oriented speaker that works as left, center, or right channel. Perfect for a minimalist TV wall setup where you don’t want big boxes dominating the room.
For true Atmos setups – Spectrum II XATM
To complete the immersive package, the Spectrum II XATM is a compact Dolby Atmos module with a 19 mm dome tweeter and 130 mm mid/bass unit in a sealed enclosure. It’s designed to sit neatly on top of other Spectrum speakers or be wall-mounted, offering a 70 Hz–20 kHz range and 88 dB sensitivity.

The Tangent Spectrum II XATM is a compact, two-way, sealed-enclosure speaker designed for Dolby Atmos in-ceiling channels.
It’s a clever way to expand your system vertically — without drilling holes in the ceiling.
Tangent Spectrum II XSW8 – deep and disciplined
Every system needs a solid foundation, and that’s where the XSW8 subwoofer comes in. It features a 200 mm cellulose-pulp cone driver powered by a 100 W RMS amplifier, with adjustable crossover (50–150 Hz), phase control, and RCA inputs.

The Tangent Spectrum II XSW8 active subwoofer features a 200mm cellulose pulp cone driver and a built-in 100W RMS amplifier.
Tangent claims a frequency response down to 25 Hz, giving movies and music the depth and impact they deserve — without sounding bloated.

The original Tangent Spectrum series earned a reputation for offering great value, understated looks, and genuine hi-fi sound. For anyone looking to build a beautiful, coherent audio system — from stereo to Atmos — Tangent Spectrum II hits that rare sweet spot between Danish design elegance and real-world performance.
