The boho skirt is making a comeback this fall—thinking of swapping out that undulating, maybe crocheted, maybe swirling-patterned skirt in favor of the textbook, cooler weather-ready wool number? Think again.

An icon of the 1970s and beloved by hippies and lead vocals of Fleetwood Mac alike, the boho skirt enjoyed a major resurgence among the it girls of the early ’00s. Back then, it was a resolutely modern look, made for a free-spirited approach to dressing that felt super feminine but playful—think Kate Moss, or Sienna Miller. Today, it’s the unsuspected fall trend you need to get to know again fast—in that familiar silhouette, but maybe lined with more luxe-feeling fringe and in more unexpected prints.

The boho-chic trend continues to dominate, carried over from the last few spring and summer collections. One designer intent on spearheading the boho revival? Chemena Kamali at Chloé, who delights in the aesthetics of the ’70s, a period synonymous with natural, sensual, powerful, and effortlessly free femininity. Her lexicon for style has found fans in everyone from Tyla to Anya Taylor-Joy. Most recently, The White Lotus star Meghann Fahhy stepped out in a full Chloé fall winter 2025 look: which featured a white and cream, double-layered top crop with sweet embroidered sleeves, and a burnt clay colored maxi skirt with ruffled hips and ruffles snaking around the base. The ’70s boho elements of the collection collection, mixed in with more historical Victorian references, rag-picked vintage nighties, and ’60s silhouettes, somehow made something that felt fun and modern.

At Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello designed a long, pleated, vaporous-feeling skirt with a paisley motif that felt in the same rhythm as the more sumptuous, tough leathers and sexy, barely-there dresses. Elie Saab revels in the fluidity that the boho skirt offers, creating refined ensembles with more polished top halves and airy skirts. Blumarine also mad a charming return to the 2000s with a sensual, slit skirt silhouette. Last but not least, Chanel showed a flamboyant, scarlet ruffled skirt. In 2025, the boho skirt comes in new forms: from burned velour to high-octane slits.

The aforementioned, undisputed icon of boho-chic style, Sienna Miller has embodied the free spirit of this phenomenon since the 2000s. One 2003, at the height of her boho powers, saw the actress appear radiant in a long, flowing skirt studded with butterflies and net details, paired with a simple camisole. It was the inverse of the era’s “jeans and a nice top” mantra. Faithful to Chloé’s bohemian universe, she continues to wear the label today, appearing front row of the house’s runway shows and on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, committed to celebrating the poetic femininity of the house’s signature silhouettes.
