WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A medical helicopter crashed in Wilson County Saturday afternoon, leading to the death of one crew member and the hospitalization of two others, according to officials.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office announced just after 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 that a LifeFlight helicopter crashed in the 7100 block of Cairo Bend Road. Deputies are at the scene, working with other responding agencies.

WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A medical helicopter crashed in Wilson County Saturday afternoon, leading to the death of one crew member and the hospitalization of two others, according to officials.
The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office announced just after 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 that a LifeFlight helicopter crashed in the 7100 block of Cairo Bend Road. Deputies are at the scene, working with other responding agencies.

The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed to News 2 a few hours later it’s investigating the “crash of an Airbus Helicopter EC130T2 near Lebanon.”
Sumner County officials said the helicopter involved in the crash was Vanderbilt LifeFlight One, based at the Sumner County EMS headquarters, adding, “Please keep our partners, their families, and the crew members in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
Vanderbilt University Medical Center shared the following statement with News 2 Saturday evening:
Vanderbilt University Medical Center is deeply saddened to confirm that a Vanderbilt LifeFlight helicopter was involved in an accident this afternoon in Wilson County. Three crew members were on board. Tragically, one crew member lost their life, and two others are in critical condition and receiving care at Vanderbilt University Hospital. No patients were on board at the time of the incident.
Our hearts and deepest sympathies are with our Vanderbilt LifeFlight colleagues, their families, and loved ones during this difficult time.

The Tennessee Association of EMS Providers and multiple emergency response agencies across Middle Tennessee have shared their thoughts and prayers for those involved in the crash via social media. That includes Sumner County EMS, Putnam County EMS, Trousdale County Emergency Services, Fentress County EMS, Montgomery County EMS, Perry County EMS, Houston County EMS, Giles County Emergency Services, Macon County EMS, Clay County EMS, Dickson County EMS, Dickson County Emergency Management, Robertson County Emergency Management, Bedford County EMS, the Putnam County Fire Department, Lawrence County Fire and Rescue, the Smith County Rescue Squad, the Nashville Fire Department, the Goodlettsville Fire Department, the Spring Hill Fire Department, the Algood Fire Department, the Pegram Fire Department, Vanntown Volunteer Fire and Rescue, the Eagleville Fire Rescue Department, the Pulaski Fire Department, theNorthEnd Volunteer Fire Department, the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department, the Hendersonville Fire Department, and the Highland Volunteer Fire Department.
