For a while now, I’ve been trying to increase the number of kilometers I run each week. A few extra long runs during the week should help make that happen.
The problem is that I tend to think all those new kilometers have to be crammed into one or two additional training sessions. A strange idea maybe, but that’s apparently how my mind works. To get the weekly average to a decent level that way, that extra run has to be well over ten kilometers though.
And really, who has time for that?
The solution, of course, is simple, but it took a while to really sink in: run a little more often, with fewer kilometers per session.
That’s all. And the nice thing is: once you’re out running, it’s a lot easier to keep…

A combination of two bits of wisdom: moving toward your goal in smaller steps, while lowering the threshold that sometimes keeps you from getting started.
