Hello all, it’s currently 5:26pm on a Tuesday afternoon, and I’ve been back home for a couple days. In the grand tradition of the student living away from home, I’ve opted to get all of my health etc. things done in my brief two weeks back, meaning that I’m currently knocked out recovering from getting my wisdom teeth removed. That does allow me to finally get a well deserved true break, ie. lazing around for a couple of days with a valid excuse, just with the added jaw pain.…

That does allow me to finally get a well deserved true break, ie. lazing around for a couple of days with a valid excuse, just with the added jaw pain.
This Tuesday feels like a Sunday in the way that I’m having my coffee right now as opposed to actually in the morning, in my true Sunday "morning" fashion. This time, it’s a little different though. Being home has given me the perk of having my Mom’s expert latte-making skills at my disposal, giving me a far better coffee than my usual crappy french press. She’s been taking up the little swirly latte art as well, so an extra warm welcome back.
Now that I don’t have engineering classes looming over me like a wave of fog, I can take up my own projects with less guilt for my unwillingness to study. I finally am done studying (for now)! Here are my break resolutions (ie. until I go back):
-
Catch the zine library when they’re open (unfortunately, due to my chipmunk-cheeked status, it’s not looking like I’ll be visiting tonight..)
-
See my lovely friends, some I haven’t seen since before the school year started
-
Experiment and improve more in my personal work, maybe bleeding into my architectural work?
-
I’ve decided to start learning TouchDesigner, sample here, which I think I can best describe as a digital media and video software. I honestly don’t entirely understand it, but I sure would like to! I’ve been seeing a few of my upper year and masters peers at school using it for their own personal projects, and am curious to see if it might have a place in my own work.
-
Mail out my December issue of con moto to my lovely pen-palling peers, this time fit with holiday greeting cards! (Zine trades are always open, never be shy to reach out)!
I’m always wishy washy about whether or not I’d like to do New Years Resolutions, but I think I stuck to my last year ones (the main ones being: walking 10,000 steps a day, and creating one thing every day) fairly well. Maybe I’ll see if I can push myself just a bit further this year, edge the needle, so to speak. First, I must make it through Christmas.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season filled with warm lattes and well deserved breaks!
