Larian Studios, the team behind Baldur’s Gate 3, has announced Divinity, a new role-playing game set in the studio’s long-running fantasy world of Rivellon. The reveal aired during The Game Awards 2025 alongside a cinematic trailer, with Larian describing the project as its most ambitious title to date.

Larian is positioning Divinity as a fresh entry point, saying players won’t need experience with previous games to follow what’s happening, while longtime fans of Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin 2 should recognize connective tissue and continuity.
Studio founder and game director Swen Vincke also framed the name choice as a statement: despite Larian’s history with the franchise, this is the first game the studio has titled simply Divinity, meant to gather what it has learned across past projects into one new RPG.
The announcement trailer leaned hard into dark fantasy and body horror, showing a public ritual built around a brutal execution, without any confirmed gameplay footage. No gameplay footage and Larian has not yet shared a release date, platforms, or concrete gameplay systems.

The reveal also closes the loop on Larian’s pre-show teasing, including the “Hellstone” imagery that circulated ahead of The Game Awards.
Reporting around the buildup pointed out that Larian leadership had recently pushed back on speculation about Divinity: Original Sin 3 specifically, and the studio ultimately used the stage to introduce a broader “new chapter” for the setting under a streamlined title.
For now, Larian is keeping specifics close, but it has launched an official site with a press pack hub for assets and future updates as development continues.
