We live in an era where we’ve outsourced our digital memories. Most of us don’t even think about it—we just hit "Save" and trust that the massive corporations behind the curtain are keeping our private thoughts, passwords, and financial records safe. But as the saying goes: "There is no cloud; it’s just someone else’s computer."

As a Head of Engineering, I’ve spent lot of time looking at system architectures. I’ve seen the shift from local servers to massive, centralised cloud providers. And while the cloud has given us incredible convenience, it has also taken something away: control.
