A Sleeper Hit Great ideas aren’t always commercially viable. However, the Wienie 500 was proof that a silly idea or two is worth the financial risk. The first Wienie 500 was held during last year’s Carb Day festivities. It turns out that putting together six Wienermobiles to race around Indy is a formula for success. It was a huge hit, with 85,000 people on the stands watching these glorious 27-foot-long machines trundle around the track. That’s a lot of folks for a novelty race, but it pales in comparison to livestream viewers with about 8 million glued to their screens.
