Nestlé-owned coffee giant Nespresso just opened the first North American version of its new “flagship boutique” store model, a two-story retail shop in New York City’s Flatiron district.
Spanning a whopping 13,900 square feet, the shop is the largest of the new store type in the world, while also introducing a new coffee bar concept called Hidden Cup Coffee Bar. There are currently eight of the new flagship locations globally.
The store at 5th Avenue and 16th Street pairs Nespresso’s core retail business — single-serve automatic coffee machines, capsules and accessories — with more experiential elements, including tastings, classes and a downstairs lounge concept.

The Hidden Cup bar will feature a rotating drinks program built around partnerships with “tastemakers” and trends such as “functionally enhanced coffees,” according to an announcement from the company.
“Experiential offerings include Nespresso’s new proprietary multisensory signature mocktail experience, which was specifically designed to infuse coffee aromas and bring a multisensory coffee mixology experience to life,” Nespresso said.
The store will also include a section dedicated to the Nespresso Professional line of machines — designed for offices, restaurants or other shared spaces — while reflecting the revamped “boutique” concept that the brand rolled out in the U.S. beginning in 2024.
In fact, the brand has a history of unveiling revamped “boutique store” concepts. In 2017, Nespresso introduced a two-story, 2,500-square-foot store on Madison Avenue that it similarly billed as a “new Boutique concept in New York City and the first of its kind in the U.S.”
