Content types
Scour classifies each post by its format (text, video, or audio) and type (News, Blog, Academic, Discussion, Code, Reference, Recipe, or Tutorial).
Format and type
Every post has a format:
- Text — articles, blog posts, papers, and other written content (the default; no badge shown).
- Video — posts linking to video content.
- Audio — posts linking to podcasts or other audio content.
Posts may also have a type:
- News — reported news stories from news outlets.
- Blog — opinion pieces, personal blogs, and newsletters.
- Academic — research papers and academic publications.
- Discussion — threads and forum posts (Hacker News, Reddit, and similar).
- Code — repositories, packages, and technical releases.
- Reference — documentation and reference material.
- Recipe — cooking recipes.
- Tutorial — step-by-step guides and how-tos.
If a post has no type label, it means none was detected. Detection uses a combination of the source site's known category and structured metadata embedded in the page (schema.org markup). Older posts are classified from their link and site; posts fetched recently can use richer page metadata, so types like Recipe and News get better coverage on recent items.
Badges on posts
Posts show small rectangular labels next to the title for any non-default format and for each detected type. Plain text articles with no detected type show no badge. The same labels appear next to post titles in your email digests.
